Earlier this month I was invited to Keebles Country House, a gorgeous bed and breakfast located in the township of Clunes. The event was to mark the beginning of the Christmas season and to see the house decorated in all its Christmas glory.
Keebles is a stunning property with beautiful gardens that play host to weddings, outdoor opera, and local fairs and markets. Whilst it’s a pleasure to visit this house any time of year, Christmas is my favourite. The interior décor is warm and inviting and filled with traditional Christmas furnishings. The tree itself ought to be a reason to visit alone, shining brightly from the corner of the living room covered in an assortment of delicate and beautiful items.
The house is exactly what you imagine as the perfect setting for a family Christmas gathering as if it were the house you see in all the Christmas movies featuring traditional furnishings, warm open fire, as well as a pretty kitchen with a big old oven. Even looking at pictures you can almost smell the roast cooking and hear carollers singing.
This month the little town of Clunes have been hosting a Christmas night market each Friday night and the pretty town is all decorated for Christmas. Clunes is well worth a visit any time of year though. If you are heading out that way I recommend visiting the website Hidden Treasures to download a trail map so you don’t miss all the best things to see and do!
This Friday evening Clunes will be having their carols night in conjunction with the market. The weather will be perfect and if you do visit make sure you take a family Christmas photo in front of the big red front door at Keebles!
